A note from Amanda: I have 2 daughters. They are 8 and 10 and have been homeschooling since the beginning. I have been teaching online for one year. I have been teaching Bible classes since I was 18. I have been teaching disease prevention and nutrition classes for adults and kids locally for the past 3 years. I am the lead coordinator at our homeschool co-op. I love distance running. I have ran 9 half-marathons, 1 full-marathon, and too many 5Ks and 10Ks to count. Our whole family runs. We have a Hunter family Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving every year before we leave for my Grandma’s.
When the kids were really little, we just ran laps around the house. Now, we run a longer distance out on the road. Both of my daughters have run many 5Ks. My oldest daughter just ran her first 10K last summer. I have a large fruit/vegetable garden. My favorite things from my garden are strawberries and asparagus. I have a strange love of dijon mustard! I love to eat it on top of my vegetables. I am afraid of heights, but that doesn’t stop me from riding roller coasters with my kids! I love to be outside when it is warm. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. I also have a blog, Running Mama.

The Academy at Bright Ideas Press offers middle school and high school courses for Christian homeschooling families to either supplement or replace their current curriculum. Families will be able to choose from a wide variety of course offerings offered either as live, online classes or as self-paced, asynchronous classes.

These options will meet the needs of all types of students, from those who enjoy learning under a teacher while interacting with other students, to those who prefer to learn more independently at their own pace. Taught from a Christian worldview, our classes will encourage students to develop excellent independent study skills which will benefit them both in college and in life.
