“I have four children (3 homeschool grads and 1 in high school). I began to homeschool formally in 2001, but my oldest was already reading and we had done a ton of schooling before that. I am a Florida State certified teacher and began tutoring math and English in college. I’ve been teaching classes and tutoring since 1993. I’ve been married to Heath since 1994. We met in college through Christian organizations on campus and being classmates. I was a math major and computer science minor; he was a computer science major and math minor. Nerdy!
“I love to read and play board games. When my children were younger, I was known as the game lady for my love of logic/educational games. Now our collection has over 200 games of all types. My husband and I even play games on our dates.
I’m a 3rd generation math teacher: my maternal grandfather, my mom, and myself.
What others are saying about Michelle
“She loves the way you put the questions into understandable English” — Mom KB
“Ever since you started teaching, I can finally understand math again 😀 You are the best math teacher ever!” — Student PP
“Hi Mrs. G, I’d just like to thank you so much for an amazing semester of math. I’ve never enjoyed or understood it very much, and it’s always been the subject I have the lowest grades in each year. I wasn’t too excited about precalc this year because I knew it would be super hard (and it was…), but you definitely made it enjoyable! I don’t remember ever looking forward to math class before. 🙂 And the fact that you were so good at making it fun helped a lot whenever I had one of those “I don’t know how to do this, I’m gonna die, life hates me, math hates me” days! Thanks so much for everything you put into math class and everything you put into my personal experience. You were definitely, hands-down, without question my favorite teacher this year. I wish I could have taken all my high school math classes with you!” – Sarah
“Thank you for everything you have taught me this year. You have been the most awesome math teacher that I have ever had and I hope you have a wonderful year. I wish you and your family the best and I pray that things will turn out right for you. From your funny, crazy, thoughtful, kind and humble pre-cal student: John P”
“I want to thank you for being such an encouragement to G******* this summer. Doing math these past 10 weeks (or past 10 years for that matter) has not been a wonderful summer experience. You, however, helped her cross the finish line (exam 10) with a positive attitude. G********* had a heart change this summer when she had you all to herself during office hours. She started speaking about you as someone other than her math torturer, I mean teacher. She felt like you were on her side. Thank you for being patient and encouraging her. Teachers can only teach encouraged children. Thank You, Father, for the gift of exhortation you have given to Michelle Glandon. – Amy ********, mother of a joyous “I am finished with Algebra II!” daughter
“Thank you so much! There are few teachers with that little something extra that have a lifelong impact on a student. I believe you are one for Krysta. She thinks so highly of you and seems to thrive under your guidance. She is looking forward to calculus next year. I certainly don’t get that at all.”
“As I turned it in, it was indeed bitter sweet. I didn’t think it would be but there will always be something calming and exciting about sitting down and solving a problem with a definitive answer. Math really is complex and beautiful despite my struggles with it. I know I can safely say I could not have done it without you. My apologies for turning it in late but my thanks for walking me through what I never could have done on my own.” – Kathryn B
“Thank you for all you do. PreCalc is Rebekah’s favorite class and I attribute so much of that to you and what you bring to it.” Maria L
“Just wanted to let you know that I took the ACT on Saturday and this class and all your tips and tricks helped soooo much. I was able to use your magic chart on one problem! Thanks for all you do.” — Emily
“Abigail has told me over and over what a fantastic teacher you are. Thank you! It is such a relief to hire a teacher and not have to watch every little thing with her in order for her to get it. As a homeschool mom with 3 other high school students it is such a great help to have great teachers. You are truly a blessing.” – Jenn L
“Just wanted to let you know… I went on a college visit a couple of weeks ago, and on my visit I had the opportunity to sit in on a precalculus class. I was excited to find that I was able to follow most of what they were talking about – trig functions, etc.! The teacher specifically asked me if I was familiar with the unit circle, or if I had just worked with reference triangles, and I was happy to answer that I knew both! He was happy to hear that, because he said he finds that many students are not familiar with using the unit circle coming into college-level classes. So, thank you for preparing us so well and teaching us all those helpful math tricks! I’m looking at pursuing middle grades math education in college, and my interest in that is largely thanks to wonderful math teachers like you who have made me love and understand math like I never really have before. :)” – Lindsey S
“Before this semester I took the college placement exam at a local community college for college algebra and did not pass. Today I retook it after going thru your class and I passed! I just wanted to thank you again for all of your help this past semester!” – Trevor
“Thank you so much for giving us a chance and for all your encouragement, for him as a student and for me as a mother. It was wonderful to feel that you really cared!” – Christina H
“I can’t say enough good things about Mrs. Glandon. I really appreciate her teaching skills and her enthusiasm for her students. She was such an encouragement to both Andrew and to me! I e-mailed back and forth with her several times and spoke to her on the phone once. I was struck by how much she seemed to genuinely care about Andrew and our family! Mrs. Glandon is awesome!”
“Thanks again for being such an amazing, sweet, and thoughtful teacher! You are in my prayers, and I look forward to taking Calculus with you next year!” – Annabelle
“Sadly I won’t be able to attend our last class tomorrow because I have to work. So I just wanted to email you and say thank you so much for an awesome year. I have never been a math lover and have always dreaded going to math class but this year has been great. Thank you so much for all the clever tricks, I will never for get them. And thank you for the t-shirt and hot chocolate mix. I hope you have an amazing summer.” – Shelby May
“I took your class for my personal math review for the SAT. I’m so happy I did because it really helped! I felt very confident as I completed the two math sections on Saturday, and I managed to finish all the problems with extra time left over! 🙂 Thank you so much for all your time and effort! I loved the class. :)” – Whitney
“I have struggled with math until I took your class!” ~ Student L
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for everything! For teaching, guiding, showing patience, listening, mentoring, and for sharing your passion for math. Marco has had an amazing year, and we are so grateful to you for providing such an outstanding class. It really has been quite pivotal in Marco’s high school experience!” – Lena A
