This class is a two-year cycle. Alternating between Year A, which uses books that focus on the ancients – the time from Creation to Christ, and Year B, which uses books that focus on the early church and the middle ages, this comprehensive English course will help students develop writing, grammar, and literary skills. Students who take this class for two consecutive years will solidify their ability to write meaningful paragraphs and will be able to identify and use parts of speech in a sentence to make their writing interesting and effective. It does NOT matter which year the student takes first, Year A or Year B.
Students will be given assignments that correspond with the period we’re studying and grow their writing skills, whatever their background. Students will be graded according to their ability.
Students taking this course for the first time will use Fix It! Grammar Student Book 1: The Nose Tree
Students taking this course for the second time will progress to Fix It! Grammar Student Book 2: Robin Hood
This course can be taken as a stand-alone English class, but it also works nicely alongside our History classes. Both years coincide with History 1, which uses The Mystery of History I.
