Class Description

This introduction to Latin serves to expose the student to the art and science of studying a foreign language. The primary goals are to give the student a working knowledge of several hundred common Latin vocabulary words, show English language derivatives from Latin, and learn the most common noun and adjective declensions (1st,  2nd, and 3rd), the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd verb conjugations, three verb tenses (present, imperfect, and future), and pronouns and prepositions. Vocabulary retention, form memorization, and translation abilities are emphasized. A secondary goal is to reinforce all principles of grammar that apply to both English, as well as Latin.
