Creativity is in our DNA. We are the sons and daughters of the Maker of All Things, including our own uniquely, lovingly crafted lives! Whether you consider yourself artsy or think you’re “all thumbs,” this club is for you! Through the fun, fascinating lens of an artisan, we will view God’s Word and learn hands-on, step-by-step instructions for creating one-of-a-kind crafts! You will grow to see to craftsmanship, yourself, and your Maker in a whole new way. Each time we meet, we will explore:
- what our Wonderful Maker has to say in His Word about topics we struggle with each day
- how He reveals deep truths about our lives through craftsmanship
- how we can move from our struggles into victory in Jesus through applying His truth to our everyday lives
- how to create beautiful, unique, handmade crafts
Our in-club crafts will be hands-on; however, more advanced crafts will also be discussed by guest Christian artisans for our learning and enjoyment! Their inspirational words and instructions will be in the form of pre-recorded videos made exclusively for this club and purpose. During the tutorial, these Christian individuals will share personal revelations in their walk of faith that have come through working with their craft. You don’t want to miss this!
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
From a Parent: Mrs. Appelgrijn was very engaging and motivating for my student. She was positive and my daughter ALWAYS looked forward to her class. Some of the reading may have been slightly difficult as it was British Lit, but Mrs. Appelgrijn managed to help guide my student into understanding.
Parent: I liked that my student was pushed out of their comfort zone with reading and writing. I appreciate the teacher’s energy and apparent love for what she taught.
From a Student: Mrs. Appelgrijn, I just wanted to thank you for being such an outstanding teacher to us this year. Not only did you teach us topics regarding language and literature, but you taught us what a servant of the Lord looks like based on your wonderful example. I will always remember how much effort you put into teaching our class and how much of a Godly woman you are! After each class, I would leave with so much joy in my heart and would feel exceptionally honored that the Lord would bless me with the opportunity to be your student! I absolutely loved our class time this year and will miss it greatly. Thank you again and again and again!
From a Student: Dear Mrs. Appelgrijn, ….I just took the test, and I really liked it. I always love your tests. They are a good mix of differently styled questions. They are engaging, and require you to think. I wanted to tell you that I made a special quizlet study set using all the terms for the test. This really helped me! Thank you for having this resource available for us to use. When you posted them for study use during the school year, I found them to be very helpful. I would study them everyday. I also made one for my science terms. …. I look forward to taking your English 4! Your student, Amelia—WI
From a Student: Hi Mrs. Appelgrijn! I just wanted to thank you for a great year! I loved your class and you’re the best teacher! You explain things so well and it’s so obvious that you love what you do and genuinely care about each of your students! You made this class so fun! I hope you have a wonderful Summer! Thanks for a great year!
I have 3 students in my local area interested in your class since I have bragged on you so much!! We are not familiar with that curriculum so since I had already registered G. I thought I would order it for them to see. G. and I had experience with you so we didn’t care about the curriculum . My college roommate’s son is also looking at your Brit Lit class for next year because the girls talk about how good you are. You and Michelle Glandon have done some magic and won them over lol!
Thanks again for your help!
From a Student: I wanted to thank you so much for this year! You are such an amazing teacher and person and I can’t believe I was lucky enough to have you as a teacher for two years!! I’ve always loved my english classes, but with you it became my favorite subject and class. You Tuesdays were my favorite days because I always had class to look forward to! The icebreakers, the discussions, videos (annotation video),and basically everything you did in class was so much fun and I’m sad it’s over:( You were always so enthusiastic and brought enough energy for every student that it was impossible for anyone get bored. I already miss class and I really wish I could take another class with you next year! I learned so much this year, while also having so much fun too! Thank you for being an amazing teacher…”
The literature that the teacher chose for the children to read has been exceptional. Her enthusiasm and love for the children is evident to me in every class.
Mrs. Applegrijn is awesome! She is so sweet! Addy is enjoying the class so much. This is our first class at The Academy and are planning to take more next year. 🙂
She is really alive and fun in the classroom. (Both kids loved her.)
We love the interaction and good Christian environment.
