Meets on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. EST, beginning January 9, 2018
Join Bright Ideas’ Science & Health Teacher, Amanda Hunter, for an 8-week real food reset.
What will this class include?
Nourishment! A healthy lifestyle is about SO much more than the food you put in your mouth. We will hunger & thirst for God’s word and a relationship with Him.
Food! Learn how to nourish your body with scrumptious, healthy foods that the whole family can enjoy. That’s right… no more cooking multiple meals to please everyone! Recipes and sample meal plan included.
Self-discovery! Peel back the layers to find the reasons why you find healthy eating to be difficult and learn practical strategies to overcome!
Support! Sometimes all we need is a little accountability. Amanda will guide you in goal setting exercises and check-in with you to see how you did! Didn’t reach your goal? Let’s figure out why.
This class will cover nutrition topics such as:
- Sugar Cravings
- Making sense of food-labels and food-label claims
- Debunk dietary myths – Aren’t all carbohydrates bad? Isn’t fat bad for you?
- Eating to prevent diseases such as Heart Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Osteoporosis, etc.
- Fueling for energy – Do you need 10 cups of coffee a day? Do you struggle to find the energy to chase your kids or grandkids around?
- Paleo? Atkins? Plant-based? Gluten-free? What is the best “diet?”
- Burgers, pizza, pasta – oh my! Learn how to navigate restaurants the healthy way.
- Meal planning on a budget
We will use the online classroom to learn, grow and refresh our minds, bodies, and hearts as we study God’s word, support each other by setting and reviewing goals, put together mock healthy meals, share recipes, and have a deliciously good time! We will also have a private Facebook group and a class page to share pictures of our creations! Click to learn more about Refresh: Mind, Body, & Heart | Parent Class.
Join The Academy Family
The Academy at Bright Ideas Press offers middle school and high school courses for Christian homeschooling families to either supplement or replace their current curriculum. Families will be able to choose from a wide variety of course offerings offered either as live, online classes or as self-paced, asynchronous classes.
These options will meet the needs of all types of students, from those who enjoy learning under a teacher while interacting with other students, to those who prefer to learn more independently at their own pace. Taught from a Christian worldview, our classes will encourage students to develop excellent independent study skills which will benefit them both in college and in life.
